Durga Puja Special Assembly for Senior School 2018

Students of DPS Ruby Park participated in the Durga Puja Assembly to ring in the festivities. The residents of the old age home ‘Nabaneer’ were the guests at the assembly which began with a rendition of “Jaya Jaya Jaga Janani Devi” and were welcomed with gifts on this joyous occasion. The Hindi Skit “Shumbh Nishumbh Badh” portraying the triumph of good over evil as Ma Durga slays the asuras to save the world from the evil forces. This was followed by the Bengali Skit “Nana Rupey Durga” which showcased the numerous forms in which the Goddess is worshipped. There was an enthralling dance performance- a fusion of classical and folk dance “Akal Bodhan” with almost 250 participants. The programme was attended by Shri Subrata Bakshi, honourable Member of Parliament and Dr. Sudipta Ghosh, an eminent educationist and member of the managing committee of the DPS Society.

The seventh edition of the inter-school fest was organized on 14th July 2018 by the students and teachers of Classes 11 and 12 in the school premises in which twelve schools, including the host school participated. The fest began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by the Principal’s address. Stirring events like In’quiz’ition (Quiz), Pitch Perfect (Product Pitching), Let’s Make Money (Trading Event), Graffito (Graffiti Making), Snapshots (Photography), Cerebral Conundrum (Debate), Allegro (Western Band), Slamdunk (Basketball), Kick-Off (Football) and Ping Pong (Table Tennis) were adjudged by celebrity names from various walks of life. At the end of a day of intense competition and warm camaraderie, DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata emerged as the winner with The Heritage School as first runner up.

The Inter House Senior Level Mathematics Quiz for classes XI-XII was held on 08th August 2018 in the Main AVR under the guidance of the Mathematics Department and was conducted by Debaditya Pal and Soham De of XII I. Each House consisted of 2 participants, one from XII and the other one from class XI. A total of 160 students from class XII comprised the audience. At the end of an exciting Quiz, Teesta House emerged as the winner followed by Jhelum and Narmada.

On August 4, 2018, the Hindi Department of Delhi Public School Ruby Park hosted the Inter School Hindi Fest, Pragya. Seventeen schools from all over Kolkata participated in the different events, to make the fest a success.
The event comprised, Extempore, Recitation and Navrang. The four judges who graced the occasion were Mr Hrishikesh Rai, an eminent writer and critic, Mr. Chandra Prakash, Regional Manager, Ms. Shradhhanjali Singh, a writer and Mr Anand Gupta, an eminent poet and educator.
The Winner’s trophy was bagged by Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, Kolkata while Army Public School, Barackpore bagged the Runner’s Up trophy.

Scholar Badge Special Assembly : A Report Class XII

The Scholar Badge Assembly for class XII was held on June 30 in the AVR Annex, in which 143 achievers from the Science stream and 38 from the Commerce stream (who had secured 90% and above in AISSCE, 2018) were felicitated for their stellar performances. The programme was graced by Shri Alok Tibrewal, our Pro Vice-Chairman. The programme was attended by the Principal madam, The Vice-Principals, The Headmaster, the Headmistress, Co-ordinators, teachers and the proud parents of our outstanding achievers.

Scholar Badge Assembly 2017-18 (Classes VIII – X)

Scholar Badge Special Assembly : A Report Class VIII to Class X

The Scholar Badge Special Assembly for the students of Classes 8, 9 and 10 of the academic session 2017-18 was held on the 30th of June 2018, at the annexe AV auditorium of the school. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Mrs. Anusree Ghose, followed by the welcome song. This was followed by a dance by the students of class 8, 9 and 10. The audience comprised the parents of the awardees. Our Principal, Mrs. Anusree Ghose, addressed the gathering and showered accolades on the deserving students, especially those who had appeared for the board examination, session 2017-18. 24 students from class 8, 15 from class 9 and 190 students from class 10 received their scholar badges from the Principal, the Vice Principals, the Headmaster, the Headmistresses and the Coordinators of the school. The award ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem.

Scholar Badge Special Assembly : A Report Class V to Class VII

The Scholar Badge Special Assembly for the students of Classes 5, 6 and 7 of the academic session 2017-18 was held on the 23rd of June 2018, at the annexe AV auditorium of the school. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Mrs. Anusree Ghose, followed by the welcome song, ‘Ei ujjolo din…’. To add to the joyous aura, the students dressed in bright attires, also presented a splendid dance performance to the tunes of ‘Mor bina othe…’. The august gathering was addressed by the Principal, who not only praised the students for their outstanding academic performance but also appreciated the teachers for their relentless hard work and expressed her gratitude to the parents for their persistent cooperation and support. The proud moment arrived with the young scholars receiving their hard earned awards, donning smiles of victory on their countenance. The Scholar Badge awards were presented by the Principal, the Vice Principals, the Headmaster, the Headmistresses and the Coordinators of the school. Finally the assembly came to a close with the vote of thanks followed by the national anthem.

Striker 2018

DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata, organised the first inter-school football tournament- STRIKER 2018 from 16th to 23rd April 2018. Eight schools from Kolkata, namely Apeejay School (Salt Lake), The Heritage School, BDM International School, Army Public School (Kolkata), South City International School, Delhi Public School (New Town), Ramakrishna Mission Narendrapur and Delhi Public School (Ruby Park) participated in the tournament. After the semi-finals, two schools- DPS Ruby Park and DPS New Town qualified for the final match. DPS New Town emerged as the champion. Before the final match, there was an exhibition match between ISL and ILEAGUE players, where star players of India participated.

Durga Puja Special Assembly 2017-2018

On 22 September 2017 a special assembly for Durga Puja was organised at Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata. The occasion was graced by eminent guests including Shri Subrato Bakshi,Honourable Member of Parliament, Prof B P Khandelwal, Member, Delhi Public School Society and the members of the Managing Committee.

A soulful rendition of “Rupangdehi Jayangdehi” by the school choir set the mood for the occasion.In her welcome speech, Smt.Anusree Ghose, Principal emphasised the significance of fostering the spirit of philanthropy and also outlined how the school, being true to its motto “Service Before Self”, has been trying to inculcate the same value in the students. The heart warming gesture of inviting the residents of old age home Nabanir to be a part of the celebration aptly illustrates the point.

The motely of presentations included a wide variety of skits and dance performances.Respect for women and acknowledgement of their strength was the central theme of the English play on “women empowerment”.The act in Hindi showcased the various facets of womanhood emphasising the multiplicity of roles they slip into and perform effortlessly.The Bengali skit “NaboRupey Durga” highlighted the Nine distinct forms of Devi Durga focusing primarily on the concept of “shakti” and its manifestations.The fitting finale of the event came in the form of a scintillating display of classical and folk elements by the school dance troupe in their dance recital named Trishakti.

Shri Subrato Bakshi in his address richly appreciated the performances and thanked the school for ushering in the season of festivities in such a beautiful way.
